Wildlife Activity

Summer is a busy time in Yellowstone, presenting numerous photography opportunities for wildlife. The most commonly seen species are bison, elk, pronghorn, grizzly bears, black bears, and red fox, with the chance to see other species like moose, bighorn sheep, and grey wolves, as well as many bird species. Sunrise and sunset will provide the best wildlife activity, along with the best light for photography, but we will remain in the field all day as there is never a shortage of stunning landscapes to photograph from cascading waterfalls, rugged peaks, and steaming thermal areas. In addition to Yellowstone, we can also explore the Beartooth Mountains, where wildlife like mountain goats and pika are often seen in the high alpine environment. While wildlife is unpredictable and we cannot promise any encounters, we will do everything we can to maximize our chances of success over the course of the day.
